That depends on your needs. We happen to think both models are pretty amazing! The most important thing to consider is- will you be wearing a newborn or small baby (under 20 lbs)? If the answer is yes, then you'll need the Hydrogen. If the answer is no, then either carrier will work for you. Otherwise it comes down to your personal preferences. The Hydrogen will allow you to have fun prints, a chest clip, hood, and a slightly higher weight limit. The Lite has a lower cost with solid colors, and is a little floppier without that infant insert. You can always add a chest clip, hood, and Strap Wraps if you would like them!
It is going to be necessary to clean your carrier from time to time, after all it is intended to be used often and little ones are experts at getting things dirty. Avoid letting your child eat or drink in the carrier to avoid unnecessary spills or stains. It is best to spot treat your carrier with a damp cloth and cool water to remove dirt or stains and then lay it flat to dry. If it is necessary to wash the entire carrier you will need to place it in a pillow case and wash it alone with cold water. Do not use bleach. Lay flat to dry, do not dry in the dryer. You may use a warm iron if necessary, taking care to avoid the webbing and buckles.
That's one of the great things about our design- just ignore it. Fasten the harness to the back panel of your carrier (as if you put your baby inside of it) and now you can use the carrier without the harness. Out of sight, out of mind.
